Schloss Engers

The palace in the district of Engers is of special historical importance as well as being a highly attractive backdrop for cultural events. Built in the 18th century for the Elector of Trier Johann Philipp von Walderdorff to pursue his favourite pastime, hunting, it was a place of typical baroque joie de vivre. The palace now houses the foundation of Rhineland-Palatinate called "Villa Musica" and an academy for chamber music. The Engers old town around the palace, no doubt one of the most beautiful corners in Neuwied, is also the perfect setting for the popular "night watchman" guided tours and the Baroque Festival held every year in late summer.
